Hi Tommy,

I hope you’re doing well;)! First of all, I want to thank you for being willing to answer our questions. I want you to know that I've always appreciated your work.

Since you mentioned Gay for Pay, I’d like to talk about this topic and ask you a few questions. I know it’s been discussed before, and it's a subject that has always sparked debates—some people believe in it, others don’t. Personally, I’ve never denied the existence of G4P, but I’ve always been skeptical about many aspects. That’s why I’d love to get your objective opinion from your perspective to clear things up once and for all, given that you were in the industry for 8 years.

1.So, my first question is a bit general. I remember you mentioned in another thread that, in your experience, most guys who weren’t fully gay but preferred women were still open to exploring and having fun with men, using porn as a way to experiment with their sexuality. I also know that a lot of porn actors started off thinking they were straight and later realized they were bi. So I wanted to ask: Beyond the money, beyond someone being more into women than men, beyond how someone identifies in their private life—beyond all that—how common do you think Gay for Pay really is (like, with guys who are 100% straight)? What was your take on this after 8 years in the industry?

2. I also read that you said the performances of true Gay for Pay guys were often the worst, with scenes taking much longer to film than usual. I’m curious, how could you tell? What’s the typical behavior of a Gay for Pay guy? For example, I’ve seen scenes where the guy seemed totally detached, doing the bare minimum—no kissing, no bottoming, no giving head, barely any physical contact or eye contact, usually just focusing on the screen showing the porn. Are these the behaviors you were talking about?

3. Regarding Viagra, I know that these pills don’t work on their own if a person isn’t sexually aroused because they still require some kind of stimulus. So how did these straight guys manage? Were they watching porn on a screen? I also know that sometimes the issue of not being able to get an erection can be linked to other factors like performance anxiety or other issues. It’s not uncommon for straight porn actors in straight scenes to use Viagra to improve their performance. I remember on Fratmen/Fratpad, there was a performer named Jayden (aka Jaden Storm)—not sure if you know him because he came along much later than you. He always claimed to be firmly bisexual, even though he rarely managed to stay hard during scenes with guys. But with girls, he had no problem, which made me doubt his claims at first. But one thing was obvious: he enjoyed making out, cuddling, giving and receiving Bj with guys, and you could tell. That’s the only reason I kept thinking he might be at least partially bi. So I wonder, is it possible that some guys enjoy certain things with other guys without necessarily being sexually aroused? What do you think?

4. I get why it makes sense today to lie about being bi or gay since a lot of guys want to promote their OnlyFans profiles. But correct me if I’m wrong, weren’t gay porn studios, especially in the early 2000s, usually proud to have straight actors and market them as such? Also, I’ve heard that in some studios, directors would promote actors as straight even if they weren’t.

5. Last question. I’ve noticed there’s often a difference when a porn actor shoots a scene with a girl compared to when he shoots with a guy. Specifically, in scenes with guys, just before the cumshot, there are usually one or more cuts in the footage, whereas with girls, the filming is continuous until the moment when the guy cum. I’ve noticed this in your scenes too. Why does this happen? Is it a directorial choice? Is it cause it’s easier to cum with pussy, or what

I know these are some long questions, but these topics come up a lot. So take your time answering, no rush ;)

I was fortunate enough not to run into too often. The vast majority of guys I shot with were either gay or bi.
2. I also read that you said the performances of true Gay for Pay guys were often the worst, with scenes taking much longer to film than usual. I’m curious, how could you tell? It was usually some combination of those things. It was pretty normal to have a porno playing off screen somewhere to help people stay aroused. We typically didn't get to choose who we were shooting a scene with so sometimes you were paired up with someone you weren't all that attracted to. As for working with the G4P guys if they weren't really into the scene that made it more difficult overall.

Anxiety being in front of the camera was definitely a thing. I hade it before every scene I had ever done. I was just good at channeling my nervous energy into the best performance I could give. Speaking only for myself as a bi person back then I wasn't the biggest lover of anal, either top or bottom. I enjoyed most other things very much. I was savvy enough to realize early on that if I wanted to have a lengthy career that I needed to slow roll what I was putting on camera. I saw way too many guys that would just do everything right out of the gate and many of them had their careers fizzle out quickly because the fans grew bored of them.

I never really heard anything about that aside from maybe Fratmen. The owner had a very specific genre he was going for. If I recall my scene with Kenny was the first gay scene on that site.

The cuts would usually be either an editing decision of if a guy was having trouble cumming on the spot while shooting. Sometimes you would need to take a little time to jerk off and get close. For most of my career I shot every day for a week one week a month and sometimes two scenes in a day. Some weeks I was pretty tired at the end.

Hope I answered all your questions with the insight you were looking for.

I thought I was the only person that noticed it. I remember Jasun Mark who directed Cocksure and SG4GE used the difference between filming gay scenes and straight scenes as evidence that gay-for-pay guys are actually straight- in their gay scenes they couldn't stay hard longer than 20 seconds and they had to watch str8 porn all the time but when they were filming str8 porn it was basically one continuous take because they were turned on by women they were fucking.
Basically filming str8 scenes took up to 2 hours while gay scenes with g4ps took even whole day.
Of course there were also tons of bi guys who could fuck guys basically without cuts.

So I am pretty sure when a guy can cum from fucking his bottom without any cuts he is turned on by him (or at least as turned on by him as he is by women).

Erection can be faked with TriMix; in order to cum you must be turned on- its just brain.

There a ton of variables that go into how a scene looks, talent of the performers, sexual orientation, attraction level, how the performers are feeling that day, what the studio or director wants from the scene, how the camera person/persons work, where the shoot is happening, environmental conditions, how the scene gets edited down to the final product, etc. I could go on and on. Thankfully I was directing the vast majority of my scenes and we only shot with a single camera and my camera person knew my process really well so we were able to do a lot of transitions without cuts over the years.

Yeah, but those guys were totally disconnected, there was no chemistry, and you could see they were looking at porn. Coming easily with a vagina isn’t just a thing for g4p guys; actually, I don’t know if you’ve seen Tommy D’s scenes, but they’re like that too. Sometimes it could be a choice in editing. I read on a forum that many bisexual, mostly straight guys say they can’t last long with pussy because it feels way more intense.
I usually judge a video by the chemistry and body language
I asked Tommy just out of curiosity, and now I’ve got my answer.
Thanks tommy

Actually, I’ve seen some TikToks by Jasun Mark too, and I wasn’t convinced by some of the things he said. Plus, he seemed a bit too obsessed with this topic, kind of like Finn Eliott. That’s also why I wanted to hear Tommy’s opinion.

If you think about it, pussy is biologically designed for that. I’m not saying you can’t cum with anal, but it’s still a subjective matter.
You're correct. Not having to deal with lube and sometimes condoms definitely played a role in the ability to cum.

Yeah I know there are several factors but still when compared with gay porn; guys in straight porn can finish from fucking their female co-star most of the time and they also have to deal with directors, being tired, bored etc. So I think most contributing factors are still arousal and feeling.
Like I am pretty sure Johnny Sins was not attracted to every woman he fucked but him not being attracted to her is not the same as g4p not being attracted to any man by definition. He[Sins In this case] still can be aroused by the very sex is having, or by her moaning, or touching her skin etc. He still had no problem with cumming.

Yeah I saw his fourthsome with Cody Cummings and both had no problem to just pull out and cum immidiately.
But I don't necessary think its harder to cum from fucking ass than vagina. There are still tons of gay scenes where top is finishing without any cuts f.e a lot of Kevin Crows scenes (but iirc he was bi or something) or a lot of Sean Cody/Corbin Fisher scenes- u could tell top is really struggling to not cum and when he finally can pull out its like he almost half bred them lol.
Most OF scenes also had no problem with that- I mean most guys who do harcore scenes are at least bi and just fuck with as much enjoyment as possible.

It also helped those were our girlfriends at the time so the attraction and comfort level was high. Any female I ever did a scene with where I didn't wear a condom I was currently dating.

I totally agree. I didn’t say it’s hard to cum from ass; I said it’s a personal thing. From what I’ve seen in some threads on LPSG, where Bi guys were asked if they found it easier to cum with pussy or ass , most, especially those who were mostly straight, said it was easier with a pussy. This made me think about the differences between gay and straight porn.

Like I said, this doesn’t apply to everyone—some straight guys prefer
anal sex over vaginal sex. To me, trying to figure out someone’s sexual orientation based on whether they cum with men or women isn’t a good method.
I already used the example of Jaden Storm from FratPad. He’s never had sex with a man on camera and probably not even off-camera. During his performances with guys, he rarely managed to maintain an erection and sometimes needed to watch porn on a screen to finish. This led many people to criticize him. But his chemistry with the guys was incredible; he loved kissing, sucking, and cuddling, and it was obvious. I believed him for this reason, because I’ll be honest, I had doubts at first when he said he was Bi.
There were many like him in FratMen, but the only difference is that he has always been openly bisexual.
All this to say that, in the end, everyone finds their own space in the sexual spectrum.

With that, I’ll stop replying to give others a chance to ask Tommy questions.

Tommy, I have a question: Without getting too specific asking you how much you made per scene, could you tell me in general how the pay was and how the contracts worked?

It was a long time ago so I don't recall for certain. I believe I was getting around $5k a month for a week of shoots for my site, usually 5 scenes. When I shot for other sites it varied on pay per scene depending on what I was doing but they covered all expenses, travel, hotel, meals, etc. I did most my work in California and the taxes are high there, plus you get taxed on that income as if you were a business owner so double whammy. Contract wise we'd renegotiate every year. Sit down and go over the revenue numbers. My pay rate stayed pretty steady.
